I hope that everyone is enjoying there summer break so far!! I made it back home after my last two exams on the 24th and have been having a BLAST ever since. It’s been almost none stop partying for the last two weeks and the blog has been hurting because of it. I start my job back up at the park on Wednesday so hopefully I will be able to get back into the routine of posting and making updates. I’ve posted some photos on my flickr account if you are interested in checking out some of the mayhem (more to come).

Not a whole lot new in my life though. I passed all my classes (except for accounting which I decided I didn’t want to go to anymore) so second year second semester is officially complete!!!! I’m now well on my way (well halfway) to never giving anymore money to a (from what I believe is a) poor, money hungry education system. Although I can’t wait to look back on this post in two years and have myself say how quickly it went by, it always seems to be the way once things are done and over with.

I still need to write the posts which I promised earlier (Chartwells, UOIT, residence etc…) but now the list gets longer as I’ve now had some trouble with the damn IT Support department. Oh how exciting 2010 will be!!!!

God’s Motive

Apr 24, 2008 | 7 responses | 638 Views

Let’s assume in my post that God wrote the Bible, either directly or indirectly.

I’ve been thinking about the Bible recently, and God’s motive for writing it.

I’d imagine that God would want us to do the right thing because it’s the right thing to do. For instance there’s the 10 commandments, and Jesus saying a lot of stuff about being nice to other people.

Why did God tell us that if we’re good we get into heaven, instead of just telling us why it’s good to be good, and letting us figure it out ourselves? If he did that, then only truly good people would get into heaven. Instead, with him telling us about heaven, he gave another reason for people to be good.

Surely he could explain the benefits of being good in the Bible without spoiling the prize? It smacks of being a very quick-and-dirty way to ensure people act nicely, instead of a more labourious way of actually getting people to be good.

The fact he mentioned it would make me think that it wasn’t God who wrote it, but people trying to exert control over the readers. Why would God want to spoil the ending? Why would God want to give nasty people a chance to get into heaven, just by paying lip-service to his words? Surely he’d want to teach us all to be nice people, instead of essentially saying “you can be a complete b**tard, but as long as you follow these rules, you’ll get into heaven, whether you mean them or not”.

I apologise for the rambling nature of this post, and I’d like to hear other peoples’ thoughts on it.

Jason Beghe Interview Update

Apr 17, 2008 | 4 responses | 1403 Views

So a lot has happened in the little while in between my posting my last post and now. In this time XenuTV’s account has been suspended, all his videos removed (including the Jason Beghe Interview) and a strong push by Scientology to once again try and censor the internet. Once again I’m here to tell you that this is not possible, especially with Anonymous. Here is the interview (once again) with full transcript. If you have a youtube account then please consider going to Downloadyoutubevideos.com entering in this link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcgUr1k1dsE) and downloading the video to your computer. After this either spread it to friends via facebook, digg, reddit or simply re-upload it back to Youtube. Join the movement.

My experience, personally and what I’ve observed for myself is that Scientology is destructive and a rip-off. And that it’s very very dangerous for your spiritual, physcological, mental, emotional health and evolution. I think it stunts your evolution.

If Scientology is real then something’s fucked up cause it ain’t delivering what it’s promised thats for god damn sure. It is not. It says it delivers what it promises, where’s the fuckin clear? Your talking about OT’s -edited- let me meet a mother fuckin clear. I would like to meet a fuckin clear. I’m clear, right. I’m declared clear as a fuckin bell. I went clear twice as a matter of fact, Okay? So, I mean you pull out a copy of dianetics, lets hear the definition of clear. Then they change it a little more and they say “no longer has his own reactive mind”, “his own” so that they can sell the OT levels. What I see, see now it ain’t a joke for me when you start talking about this is the bad stuff. I think, from my own experiences and from what I’ve seen I think the further you go up the bridge the worse you get. Thats what I see. Some people are “happier” but whos happy? I submit to you that its not them anymore. And I know people that are troubled to death, they just finished OT 8 and they have migraines? Migraines? A fuckin clear doesn’t have migraines, this is an OT 8 for god sakes. Migraines? Migraines is an engram that you can handle, I mean come on. And there still fuckin gung ho and head OT ambassadors and all this shit. Running around trying to do the job of the OT 8s who are really the power houses, and so they believe that. So there happy cause I’m fuckin doing something to save the planet and their running around doing this stuff but its just like that theta trap. Its just one guy, he’s stuck in a theta trap and hes unhappy, and another guy is stuck in it and he’s “happy”. Cause he’s convinced himself and he’s just (queue the funniest fake laugh ever!!) I mean its just awful. Whats worse? I’d rather be depressed than that. I don’t have an agenda. Right now I’m trying to help. And I know that the Scientologists are trying to help, there just trying to help. I think that’s what most people are trying to do, there just trying to help.

I don’t want to be a terrorist about it and shake any body up or upset anybody. I have the luxury of having gotten into Scientology and after having been in it, been out. And thats a perspective that those people who are in and not out, don’t have.

Scientology: Jason Beghe Interview

This is a little tease of an interview with ex-scientologist and one of the first celebrities to come forward after leaving the ‘religion’. For anyone who doesn’t understand everything that is going on surrounding the Scientology religion (crazy fucking cult) check out this video below. It breaks it down pretty good.

Gran Turismo Prologue

Apr 09, 2008 | No response | 666 Views

It’s still a little while before the full Gran Turismo 5 game comes out but until then they are showing off what the game is capable of through a smaller version of the game called Prologue. Just about everyone that has seen this video has a hard time getting over the true realism of the game. When I first watched the video I found that at a bunch of points throughout the video it was difficult to tell whether or not the video was real life or in game. Check it out and decide for yourself.

I’ve been messing around with the sidebar once again trying to remove as much of the unnecessary stuff as possible. Nobody was really clicking any of the links on the right side so whats the point in having them clutter up the screen I suppose. I am in the process of changing A Look At Our World over to a blog style website so that I can allow others to collaborate much easier.

I am going to move away from the conspiracy theory theme and am going to try and put together a couple of bloggers from different parts of the world and have them write up little posts on what it’s like to live in these parts of the world. It goes well with the title of the site and I think this would be much more interesting not just for me but for the visitors as well. If you would like to write up a little post for the site about the area of the world you live in (city, country, continent) then feel free to email me using the form on the contact page (which I just realized wasn’t working but is now fixed). As always I will keep everyone updated.

Do You Feel Good?

Apr 07, 2008 | 1 response | 544 Views

I noticed about 3-4 different users on twitter mention a site called TheFeelGood.com so I decided that if they were getting excited about it enough to tweet about it then I guess I could also check it out. I’m a pretty big fan of different ways to discover music and TheFeelGood definitely fills those shoes.

Main Page (thefeelgood.com)

When you first visit the site you are greeted with a sliding bar featuring music and album art uploaded by users of the site. The site is entirely community driven and relys on users to upload music, descriptions and album art for each song. You are not required to sign up for the site to listen to the music but it helps if you find some music you like and would like to add it to a favorite list. Start by signing up here.

The members page still needs a bit of work as I found it difficult to figure out what was going on right away (colored boxes arn’t my thing I guess) but once you figure out that followers of your music are on the far right, your music in the center, and options and wall on the left your pretty much set to go.

Profile Page (thefeelgood.com)

Uploading music was simply and it only took me a whole 4 minutes to get a weeks worth of tracks added to my channel (what they call your profile). While you are listeing to other users music simply click the little red heart to the top right of the player and the song will be added to your favorites list for that particular day.

The site, like most web 2.0 start-ups, utilizes tagging for alot of its music sharing and does a good job of it from what I could tell. A lot of the tags that I have explored so far have been a pretty good representation of the music I got (ie: chill, relax, dance).

So I think my time with all these conspiracy theories and alternate view points has come to an end and I need to re-enter this little think we like to call the ‘real world’. It has been fun while it has lasted and I think I’ve learnt a lot in the last little while, especially to take a critical approach to all the information you receive.

I may or may not continue working on ALookAtOurWorld.com or it may morph into something totally different than what it currently is. Man I get bored with these stupid little projects haha.

I want to continue concentrating on Photoshop as well as my PHP skills. A nice little web app would be nice to setup.
