Timbaland Presents Shock Value

Mar 30, 2007 | 3 responses | 581 Views

Shock ValueTimbaland Presents Shock Value is an upcoming solo album from record producer Timbaland. According to Interscope, the album was supposed to be released on March 27, 2007 but was pushed back to April 3, 2007. The first single is “Give It To Me” featuring Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake. The single was released on U.S. radio on February 6, 2007, as reported by allaccess.com.

A fake release of the album spread around the Internet on March 18; it contained older Timbaland songs mislabelled as the “Shock Value” tracklist. A World exclusive Preview of “Bombay” featuring Amar & Jim Beanz was Played by Panjabi Hit Squad through their weekly radio show Desi Beats & Myspace page on the 19th March 2007.

The album was leaked and spread by torrents in its entirety on March 22, 2007.

The album will feature an extensive list of high profile musicians from many genres of music. “I’m not just hip-hop,” Timbaland insisted while being interviewed by MTV. “My mission is to take over top-40 radio — what they call popular music, different genres of music — and reach all types of people.”

In an interview with radio station Z100, Timbaland confirmed that rappers Dr.Dre and Missy Elliott will be on a track together, as well as a remix of rock band One Republic’s song “Apologize.” He also announced that Jay-Z, Björk, Kanye West and Dr. Dre would be part of the album but the songs with West and Björk did not make the final cut. In a recent edition of MTV’s Mixtape Mondays, Timbaland expressed disappointment that Jay-Z did not complete his track by the album’s deadline.

You can view a track list and samples here.

My first impression on the album was EPIC!!! Timbaland has taken the styles of almost every single genre and brought them together with this amazing album. Some of my favorite tracks include “Oh Timbaland”, “Bounce”, and “Come & Get Me”.

Hamilton For The Weekend

First off I would like to tell you about a friend of mine, Adam Henningsen, who runs a blog at (link to blog). Recently he was running a contest to create some buzz for his blog and it got my attention. His idea was to give USD$5.00 to a person that commented on his blog every hour for eight hours, in the end giving away USD$40.00. Pretty generous guy if you ask me. The idea was simple but in the end it did not work out nearly as well as he would have hoped. With these types of campaigns it is a hit and miss whether the idea will ignite across the net or just burn out. There are many alternatives to getting traffic to your site especially if you’re willing to dish out some cash. A few examples include using Adwords, buying paid advertisements on individual sites that share a similar topic to yours, and paying a fixed amount for a certain amount of traffic. Since Adam runs a blog he should not rely on paid advertising as you want to target and bring in readers that will continue to come back and also contribute to your community in the form of comments. Getting 10,000 random visitors is not nearly fulfilling as having 10 people comment on one of your posts.

I know firsthand how hard it is to promote your blog and establish long term readers. I’ve been blogging for a couple of years now but since I began I have probably gone through 10-15 different site designs and 4-5 different hosts in that time. This is not a very good practice and has lost me many valuable readers over the years (change of domains, many rapid design changes, lack of posts). Jeffreymunro.com looks like it will remain my domain for the rest of my life, well unless someone offers me $1,000,000 for it ;) and buyers? I was going to include some tips in this post but there is an immense amount of information about blogging on this site so it didn’t seem necessary.

I am currently on my way to the Hammer to visit Hannah for a couple of days. It’s awesome having a place that is fairly close (2 hour trip) where I can go for a couple of days to get away from the wonderfulness that is res. I may be repeating myself but I’m planning on living in res next year as well but no roommate yet. Waiting to hear from Brett and where he has decided to go. Would be mint to have a good bud as a roommate as opposed to someone I can’t really relate to.

My accounting midterm went well last now although accounting does not seem like something I would want to do for the rest of my life. I would rather be doing something I enjoy doing for a fraction of the salary than do accounting all day. That’s the second career choice I’ve knocked off the list, economist and accounting, haha. Many will agree with me in saying that I don’t like being told what to do and when I know someone is wrong I’ll let them know. Now some many consider this a strength and some a weakness. I consider this one of my strengths and believe that it will help me in the direction I choose to go, entrepreneur. Many people also ask me what type of business I would like to run and don’t understand how I can be an entrepreneur without a business plan or model. Let me answer this question now…. My future business probably does not yet exist and the industry or market has probably not even been born yet but I know that it is currently manifesting and that whenever the opportunity arises I will be more than ready to seize it. Not a long answer but gets the point across.

That’s about it for now but just wanted to laugh at the two girls across from me who are getting nailed with $120 fines for not having Go Train tickets. BAHAHAHAHAHA noobs.

Eddie Griffin Crashs Ferrari Enzo

Mar 27, 2007 | 2 responses | 658 Views

Eddie Griffin crashed a $1.5 million Ferrari Enzo (only 400 were ever made) while practicing for a charity race to promote his new movie Redline yesterday. Griffin said:

“Undercover Brother’s good at karate and all the rest of that, but the brother can’t drive.”

The Ferrari belonged to the producer of Redline, who said:

“I’m glad Eddie came out of the crash okay, but my dream car got destroyed. I went to my trailer for about 15 minutes and I thought, ‘There’s people dying every day. A lot of worse things are happening in the world.”

WHAT!!!! 15 minutes to get over your mangeled Enzo, what the hell is wrong with you? Pretty sure if someone wrecked my new Ferrari I would lose my mind but I guess thats JUST me. Check out the video here. If you want to see some more Ferrari carnage click here, please try not to cry.

What grinds my gears: Fox News

Mar 27, 2007 | 5 responses | 405 Views

Just finished up the first of the three midterms I have this week and next. Finished it up in about thirty minutes so I wouldn’t say it was very tough and I’m sure everyone agrees with me after our statistics midterm (was really tough). Took a nice four hour nap after the midterm to catch up with the sleep I didn’t get last night (no big story but didn’t go to bed early enough, sorry to disappoint). Now that I am re-energized and refreshed I can start my plans to take over the world… well kinda….

You know what really grinds my gears? FOX NEWS!! I was on the 9/11 Loose Change website again today and was watching a clip from Fox News discussing Charles Sheens comments about 9/11 and how he also believes, along with almost everyone on earth now, that the attacks on September 11th, 2001 are a conspiracy. Now as we know, Fox News is one of the most credible sources in the world so we should be taking every single thing they say seriously. Bahahahahaha lmao lol…. Just watch this clip and you’ll be laughing too. What noobs, right Rohan! While watching this movie I felt like screaming at the top of my lungs, do these guys at Fox honestly believe this junk or are they just picking up reporters on the side of the street. Oh ya and fuck you too New York Post, gets some real journalist. Oh ya I also run a World Trade Center Photo website if you would like to check that out, over 5000 photos from September 11th, 2001. Well now that I’ve had my daily rant I feel much better. Please leave your comments on how you feel about the whole 9/11 conspiracy situation because I know that I am firm believer there is much much more to the story than is being told and it is only a matter of time before this conspiracy is exposed to the world.

Stuck studying for an accounting midterm tomorrow night but its nice that its at night because then I can just procrastinate more and say I will study tomorrow after. Hopefully I’ll be able to squeeze a movie in there somewhere. Since September I think my movie and especially tv show watching habits have increased about 10000%. I’m going to be lost in the summer without high speed lol. Now to some this may shock and to others confuse (as you may have never experienced it) but back at home in my rural location near Alexandria, Ontario the only type of connection that is currently offered is 56k!! woo! Plans are in motion to setup wireless this summer because another summer of dial-up just is not going to happen lol.

So I thought I would write a little background about my family as I always fail to mention them in any of my posts. There are five Munro’s on the 1st of Kenyon (My Road). I have one brother and one sister, Andrew Munro and Ashley Munro. My lovely parents are Ronald Munro and Janice Munro (unfortunately neither of them have Facebook haha). We’ve been living at my current house for almost my entire life. Before we moved there when I was I think 5-6 we lived about the Funeral Home that my dad owned and no it wasn’t creepy for the four hundred people that were going to ask ;). My sister Ashley is currently in her second year at the University of Ottawa for Nursing. My brother Andrew is currently in 10th grade at Glengarry District High School. My dad is a retired Funeral directory who owned and operated Munro and Morris Funeral Homes with his brother Dale Munro for 25 years before he started losing his hair and decided it was about time to call it quits. My mom Janice is probably the nicest, most loving and funny person you will meet, well at her age anyways haha ya I said it!!! I guess thats enough information for all of your to follow, stalk and ultimately steal all our identities.

Oh Monday

I was pretty happy to wake up this morning and realize that the typical overcast, muggy Oshawa mornings have returned from their winter break. No more snow left here or the rest of the GTA. From the looks of it winter it gone for another year and we can now start looking forward to the wonderful summer!!! Surprisingly I didn’t get up at the normal 2pm today but instead got up early and headed into campus two hours before my first class… I’m wondering why as well but definitely makes for a more productive day considering I actually get to experience the morning.

Two tests tomorrow, Economics and Collaborative Leadership, and then Accounting midterm on Wednesday to top it all off. Once those three tests are finished up it should be pretty smooth sailing for a couple of days. Hopefully gonna make the trip down to Hamilton for a couple of days this weekend to visit Hannah. If I’m not able to make it down this week I won’t be able to see her until after exams which would be pretty terrible.

I have yet to talk about Justin.tv yet and I was holding back from talking about it because I figured the service would drop after a couple of days but now at just over week it seems to be withstanding the test. Two days ago the site had 36,000 unique visitors login and watch Justin Kan live out his life. There has been many attempts at this before but because of bandwidth limitations it would last a most a couple of days before they had to shutter down. I am not sure what type of infrastructure Justin.tv is running on but it sure is reliable and hasn’t been down for me yet. The potential these types of applications have may not yet be visible but if a few guys in an apartment are able to rig together a scalable service like this what is stopping everyone from soon being wired all the time and broadcasted on the net. Pretty good way to see what friends are up to. Facebook 3.0!!

Little update on Matt Harding. I was lucky enough to get into contact with him and he may infact be making a stop over in Toronto, Ontario. Woot! Now I may not be able to make it to the event but was rather surprised to see his Canadian stop, although most likely a stop over for an international flight. The CN Tower would make a good addition and would be your first Canadian stop.

UOIT Blogs

The University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) is located in Oshawa, Ontario and shares its campus with Durham College. The university was founded in 2002 and accepted its first students in 2003 making it one of Canada’s newest universities. UOIT is oriented towards science and technology and all undergraduate programs require students to lease a laptop PC from the university as a condition of enrollment. Faculty also encourage students to use their laptops to complete assignments, perform laboratory research and interact with faculty during lectures. UOIT offers a range of undergraduate programs, and are starting to offer graduate programs. The UOIT campus is approximately 400 acres (1.6 km²) in northern part of Oshawa, Ontario. Trent University also offers a small full-time program on the same campus and offers a number of elective courses to undergraduate students at UOIT.

If you are reading this you are probably looking for a student perspective of the university so here is a list of some of the bloggers @ UOIT.

Self Manifestation

Mar 24, 2007 | 2 responses | 627 Views

This is an interesting video about manifesting anything you could ever imagine by simply thinking about it on a repetitive basis until you get it. The idea may seem absurd to some but just watch the video and if you disagree post a comment why. Its easy to say this doesn’t work but until you actually try it and experience it you won’t know for sure. I would say I have had my fair share of experiences and will hopefully continue having them for a long time to come.

Do you know your Google Twin?

Mar 21, 2007 | 12 responses | 756 Views

Have you even been bored and browsed over to Google.com and for fun search your name? I was reading an article earlier today that talked about this and how some people can become obsessed with finding out information about these other mysterious people who share the same name as me, Jeffrey Munro. Whenever I Google my name I seem to be dominating the first ten or so pages of the search results but did find some others who share my name (hockey player and MIT Graduate).

“There is this natural tendency that you want to know that you’re part of the record,” he says. “One Googles oneself for the same reason one gets up really early in the morning in subzero temperatures and stands in front of the window of the Today show, so that someone might see you waving a sign (on TV).”

Google your name but be sure to put your entire name in brackets so that it searches for your full name. Find someone? Post it in the comments…

My Favorite Forums

Mar 20, 2007 | 21 responses | 19826 Views

I, like many others, browse numerous forums throughout the day/week. I visit some merely to check what people are saying about a certain topic (Ottawa Senators Forum, Lost Forum, Mac Forum) but for the most part I don’t tend to post a lot on these forums. Forums are PACKED full of information and if you just give it enough time you will see that forums that teach you a lot about certain topics (Blogger Forum, Web Design). The favorite forums that I have an active account and post on a regular or semi-regular basis include:

1. Anandtech.com
2. IpTorrents.com
3. PureEuro
4. DevianArt

I don’t have standard nickname that I use across all of these sites, although I should consider getting one, but feel free to search for me and add me as a friend on any of those sites. Please post a comment about a couple of your favorite and best forums.

Grassroots Blogging

Mar 20, 2007 | 1 response | 451 Views

So with a little motivation from Mikes comment I’ve decided to revert the site back to its grassroots as a blog about ME! As much as people bash this idea of writing about yourself, your day, or your life, I find it rather interesting to look at something through the views and opinions of someone else. In the end blogging is boring as hell to write about and I wasn’t generating anymore traffic since I decided to switch the site up, probably less actually. So from now on, until I decide to change again, the site will be focused around whatever comes into my head when I feel like writing a post. I would say this is a good way to keep the blog topic VERY open. Thanks Mike.

Working on an external environment analysis of BCE (Bell Canada) in the library right now and not very pumped about doing it. Been working my way through it for the last two day and although its getting done, I’m not in the mood to keep working on it. Done about 60-70% of my part of the assignment so hopefully if everything goes as planned I’ll be able to finish up the rest of it today. I’m going to try and force myself to stay here until I finish it but with a limited supply of coffee and muffins that may prove difficult.

P.S: If you don’t like the pink in the header you can go f*** yourself ;) that is all!
