English is not the only language
Mar 12, 2007 | I Blogging Tips | 577 ViewsNow you may be thinking how I expect you to accommodate the multitude of other languages in this world considering you only speak one, two, or if you are fortunate enough 3+. The answer is quite simple and it won’t require you to learn a new language, an added bonus. Many of the popular blogging software have plug-ins or add-ons available that will automatically translate your current blog into many of the major languages around the world including Chinese (I know it’s not a language but you know what I mean), Arabic, French, Spanish and German (among many others). Many new bloggers do not realize that these types of translators are available and it greatly limits the audience that your blog is able to capture.
Take this website for example. I received over 10,000 page views in a span of 3 days from Germany a couple of weeks back but unfortunately at the time I did not have any translation tools installed and I missed out on a whole lot of potential subscribers. You may not believe it is necessary for you to install this as your target demographic are English speaking but I believed the same just weeks ago and look what I missed out on. Information travels faster than anything we know (ok, ok, there is a little something called light) and because of this your blog can make its way to the browsers of computers all over the world. There is no sure way to predict where your next 10, 100, or even 10,000 hits will come from and being prepared beforehand will save you lots of trouble in the end.
Now these translators will not give a perfect translation but the reader will at least be able to understand what you are trying to get across in your posts. Online translators have come a long way since the late 90s when translating a single sentence sometimes proved to be a nightmare. Below is a list of different translation tools for some of the more popular blogging software. I target blogs in particular but there are many other different tools that you can use to convert and type of website, not just blogs, to a variety of different languages. For companies that want to take their business multi-national this should be the first thing they implement. Now hiring a professional translator may make more sense for your business as spelling and grammar mistakes will not leave a positive impression on potential clients.
