Now that most of the registering, mailing, and paying is done for Uni this year its time to go over how everything worked out in respect to my schedule. Although there was some trouble trying to fit in tutorials for all my lectures, I managed to come up with a schedule that will suit my needs and also ensure that I’m not swamped with class all day. I’ve got three night classes and for more people this would be unacceptable but I enjoy going to class more at night than during the day when the halls and rooms are packed.

Whenever I first started my nature wallpaper website I wasn’t at all sure how it was going to turn out or if anyone would be interested in visiting it. After 6 months I must say I have accomplished a lot of different things I set out to do in the beginning. Some of those achievements being:
- Received 10,000 daily page views (avg = 11,000 +)
- Get listed on the front page of Digg and Netscape
I have not worked more than 3-4 hours on the site in last couple months but it continues to generate a LOAD of traffic from Stumbleupon and just random blogs featuring the site on their blog. From the looks of it the site will continue to receive a decent flow of traffic in the coming months, especially once school starts up again and everyone migrates indoors for the winter.

Many of you have probably never heard of Mister-wong but if you hail from Germany it might be as familar as Digg is to North American surfers. Mister Wong is the lead social bookmarking site in Germany and has more bookmarks than del.ico.us (in Germany). The site has always treated Jeffrey Munro dot Com very well, serving up over 20,000 visitors to my sites in the past 6 months. The problem was that the entire site was in German and they did not yet have support for multiple languages. Now the day has come and we are blessed with an all English version of m-w.com. The site currently has a very small user base (still in private beta) but you can sign up for it for free on there website, Mister-wong.com.

About a week ago my brother, Eathan, and I went karting at St-Zotique. The facility has been open for quite a few years and every year they seem to upgrade or add something to make it that much better. They have an excellent system setup to track your lap times, the cars are really quick compared to most Karting places and the course is challenging but still very quick. The price of one round of Karting (10 minutes) is a little pricy at $16 for adults (cheaper for kids -$12) but definitely worth it for a day trip.
Introduced in Europe a quarter of a century ago, karting is currently in full expansion in Québec. If heart-pounding thrills are your passion, then get behind the wheel and race down the 1-km track at top speed. Karting St-Zotique . . . where you can dare to dream!
Many well-known Québec drivers sharpened their reflexes through this sport. Jacques Villeneuve, Claude Bourbonnais, Patrick Carpentier, Bertrand Godin and Alexandre Tagliani all started out behind the wheel of a go-kart and continue to use the sport to maintain their driving abilities.
Thanks to our safe and suitable facilities, karting is a sport that has now become accessible to everyone.

Pretty eventful night in Montreal last night. Went up to Ali’s apartment first and then headed off to the Peel Pub, only about 4-5 blocks away. Some how we managed to turn that 4-5 block walk into a 15 block marathon. Sometimes pizza is more important (Brendan). Got lost a little on the way in, and out, it was a pretty good night. Some people snapped some photos from the bar so you can check those out below if ya want. I wish we would have checked out some more places rather than staying at the same bar all night, although we did get there pretty late. The Peel Pub has 4 Litre pitchers ($30) if anyone ever wants to try tackling a couple of those

In the last couple of days the site has been getting pounded from Google search results with people looking for information on the leaked copy of the new Harry Potter book The Deathly Hallows. The site has received well over 30,000 unique visitors in the last 3 days and over 23,000 views on this. The site has never seen this amount of traffic from Google but it obviously is very content targeted as the users are the ones doing the searching.
I believe the mistake Ive been making whenever I promote the site is trying to reach every single demographic out there no matter how far off or unrelated the content may be. By targeting the traffic to a particular demographic the value of the content becomes that much more important and it will also help in building readership as many of the readers will be interested in the type of stuff I may be discussing.
I have no idea how long I’ll be riding this Google keyword train but hopefully for the next week or two as it really helps with ad sales :). For all the bloggers out there it is important to remember that having one source of traffic is a very bad idea. If you lose that source then you are stuck with a few visitors trickling in from random places across the net. You can use this experience of mine as an example in practice. Once people stop searching as often for these particular keywords my traffic will again drop down and plateau out where it normally is. Some alternative sources of traffic that I use for this site include:
Netscape.com
Digg.com
Stumbleupon.com
Msn.com
Yahoo.com
Link Exchanges
Update: Now that we are the subject of stats I thought I would also post this. I just noticed that my nature wallpaper website surpassed the 1,000,000 page view mark today!! Woot woot!

A small collection of some of my favorite rap songs of all time. Some I may not listen to anymore but at one point it was all that I was listening to.
* Update: This post has been receiving lots of traffic the last little while so I thought I would expand on it and update a list throughout the month and link to it from here. I’m going to start with about 15-20 songs for December 2007 but will definitely be adding to it by the end of the month so be sure to check back. If you do not like the list please do not bash it in the comments, instead post a comment with a couple of song suggestions. Everyone will benefit this way.

A couple of days into my no smoking test and things seem to be going pretty damn smoothly. I’ve quit a bunch of times before so it is not something necessarily new but every time you think about quitting it seems like an entirely new battle. Quitting everything at once seems much more effective than slowly trying to break the addiction. I did not have many of the withdrawal symptoms that I had on previous attempts. (sweats, lack of sleep, moodiness (more of all the time thing)). Like many have said before me, the nature of addiction lies within your mind and not in your bodies physical dependence on the substance (drugs, sex, alcohol etc…). If you can go to a state in your mind where you are completely smoke free you will go there in the body. It seems like such an abstract idea but until you try it, you really won’t understand how powerful your mind really is.
